Our wonderful tour to the “Land of the Incas” to visit craft producers and coffee farmers, stay with their families, experience life in the Andes and at the same time enjoy some of the best sites of Peru.
In Lima we learn more about Traidcraft's partners; Allpa and as well as visiting their offices, we make a visit to one of their workshops to see some of their silversmiths at work.
From the capital, we travel up into the Andes and along the Sacred Valley of the Incas to the famous wonder of the world, Machu Picchu. We visit coffee farmers in the cloud forest who supply Cafédirect and ceramic potters in the towns and villages around Cusco before travelling south through the Andes to Lake Titicaca.
On Taquile Island we visit local communities and at Juliaca we visit a Fairtrade quinoa producer and see Alpaca fleece being spun and knitted into an array of beautiful garments. A rich itinerary that explores the diverse culture and natural beauty of Peru.
“All producers gave a lovely warm welcome to their work and homes which I will remember for a long time”
“Extremely well organised and well planned, enjoyable, interesting, stimulating”
“Machu Picchu was breathtaking so it probably was the best day but every day brought something new, interesting and exciting”
“We could not have had a better guide. A great guy and a wealth of knowledge. Showed patience and looked after us with such care, nothing was too much trouble”
“I had the most wonderful holiday in Peru, I would not have missed it for anything. The group was exceptionally nice and as you suggested “I would be alright with Efrain” – what an amazing man”
“Meeting the Collasuyo communities was a highlight for me with real contact with the ladies from the communities”
“All of the producers we visited were very welcoming – we felt humbled on many occasions by their generosity. They were keen to show us their skills and talk about their lives”
“The holiday of a lifetime!”
“As a ‘fair trader’ for Traidcraft it has been great to see some of the producers and buy directly from them”
“Amazing to meet producers to learn the benefits of fair trade”
“The organisation was excellent, and the balance of tourist visits and producers was just right. I felt that I had a good experience of Peru and its people. The success of the holiday was due in a large part to our excellent guide”
“A great experience – beyond our expectations”
