Welcome to the land of Earth, Fire and Ice! From the towering Andes to the thundering waterfalls of Salto del Laja, or the majestic Villarrica volcano reflected in its serene lake, evidence of the elemental forces which sculpted this amazing and beautiful land is all around you.
As we travel through breathtaking natural scenery we are introduced to some of the most passionate stories of cooperation, determination, and of Fairtrade making a difference. Combining all this with a fascinating insight into Chile’s cultural heritage and political history, ensures a trip packed full of incredible memories.
We will spend our first night in Valparaíso, getting our first tastes of traditional Chilean food and enjoying this characterful coastal city. We will also tour the sights of Santiago and begin to learn about its history and the effects of Pinochet’s regime on the people of the country.
During our journey south, as you are enjoying the breathtaking scenery, we'll visit schools and cities, Mapuche communities, and some of the groups who produce Fairtrade raisins, wine, honey and blueberries. We’ll hear their stories and learn more about life in this fascinating and diverse country.
