Holiday Information

With the majestic Himalayas supplying their stunning backdrop, this is a unique and unforgettable visit to a truly amazing country. As we explore the Kathmandu Valley with its many ancient temples, we spend time with weavers and handmade paper producers, members of the vibrant network of fair trade producers in Nepal. We also search for rhino in Chitwan National Park and spend time in the lakeside city of Pokhara which provides dramatic views of the Annapurna Himal.
During our time in Nepal we visit Get Paper Industries (GPI). Established in 1985 as a family business producing handmade paper products from cotton and paper waste, GPI is now a co-operative and workers are involved in all aspects of decision-making through a number of committees.
Mahaguthi's story begins with the legendary social reformer Tulsi Mehar. Inspired by his work with Mahatma Gandhi in India he returned to set up a spinning and weaving project in the Kathmandu Valley which now lives on in the fair trade organisation Mahaguthi, which works with more than 1,000 producers across Nepal. Working together with local tour operator Mt Kailash, Mahaguthi's knowledge and passion for fair trade ensures we have the sort of experience few tourists get to enjoy.
